KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The intern will support the Macro & Thematics team in delivering high-quality fixed income portfolio insights, analytical enhancements, and process innovation. This role is suited for a candidate with strong analytical skills, a solid grounding in finance and fixed income concepts, and a keen interest in how technology — particularly AI — can enhance investment processes.
The intern will have hands-on exposure to real fixed income portfolios across Asian USD credit, Asian local currency bonds, and global EM, working directly with the portfolio managers on research, analytics, and tooling enhancements.
Fixed Income Portfolio Analytics
- Assist in producing performance, attribution, and risk analytics for fixed income strategies.
- Support monitoring of portfolios vs benchmarks (JACI, ALBI, GABI, etc.).
- Conduct research on macro, FX, credit spreads, and relative value themes.
- Prepare materials for internal discussions, investment meetings, and client updates.
Enhancements to Existing Fixed Income Analytical Tools
- Work with the team to refine and improve current analytics dashboards and models (Excel/Python/Bloomberg add-ins).
- Automate recurring workflows and build templates that improve process efficiency.
- Conduct data validation and stress-test models for robustness and accuracy.
AI Integration & Innovation
- Conceptualize and prototype ways AI can support fixed income investment processes.
- Explore applications in:
o Data extraction & summarization
o Sentiment or thematic screening
o Predictive modelling
o Workflow automation (eg. idea generation, macro monitoring)
- Present findings and recommendations to the team.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Academic Background
- Pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong academic performance with interest in fixed income markets.
Technical Skills
- Good understanding of fixed income and macroeconomic concepts (eg. duration, yield curves, spreads, credit ratings, FX, rates).
- Proficiency in Excel (modelling, functions, charts).
- Familiarity with Bloomberg functions (FIW, GP, DES, HDS, YAS, WEI, etc.).
- Coding experience (e.g., Python, VBA, R) is a strong advantage.
- Experience with data handling and visualization is beneficial.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Curious, self-driven, and comfortable with open-ended research tasks.
- Effective communicator who can summarize insights clearly for investment teams.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and deliver on timelines.
