About the Role

THE OPPORTUNITY - CONTEXT OF THE MISSIONS

As we continue to look for more sustainable ways to build, we need world-class talent to join our team. People who are passionate about sustainability, driven by curiosity and keen to grow, learn, develop and thrive in our high-performance culture.

Holcim announced in September 2020 the Net Zero Pledge, i.e. meet the 1.5 C target in alignment with SBTi. CO2 Capture is an important leg of this journey. We have to further develop various Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) technologies with the objective of having 2030 economically viable solutions at industrial scale. CCUS plays an important role with more than 50 projects being worked on currently and still increasing.

In this mission, you will develop a dynamic, Python-based model to simulate the full CO2 value chain from capture at the cement plant to utilization or Storage. Starting from internal Excel datasets and defined project assumptions, you will build an interactive tool that enables stress-testing of design and business scenarios.

Your work will directly influence technical design and investment decisions in one of Holcim’s most visible decarbonization projects.

MISSIONS

  • Structure and code the model using Python (Pandas, Dash, optional Pyomo)
  • Integrate variables like cement plant reliability, CO2 capture plant reliability, transport constraints, storage options, and value chain’s stakeholder constraints
  • Integrate OPEX and output products price considerations to evaluate losses depending on different scenarios and develop a self-arbitrating model
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including the project manager, Holcim plant team, Holcim corporate functions and CO2 value chain stakeholders
  • Participate in 3–4 agile-style sprints with milestones aligned to project reviews
  • Present results and recommendations to the broader CCUS community within Holcim
