About the Role

Overview

The Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc. Water & Wastewater Services Division (BGC WWS), a partner of the H&K Group, Inc. is seeking a mechanical engineer intern to support our Engineering Division at the main office in Skippack, PA.  The ideal candidate is hard working, quick to pick up new skills and apply new information.. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with multiple departments and/or business partners, applying what you’ve learned in class to various projects.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs all work according to OSHA/MSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Modeling and designing various water and wastewater projects using SolidWorks as your main tool.
  • Learn how to producing detailed 2D drawings for use by our field crew during installation
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the job.
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Actively enrolled in a mechanical engineering or related program from an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or technical school
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

  • One year or 30+ credits towards the degree or certificate
  • Previous internship or work experience in the construction or construction materials business

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally required to:
    • Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    • Use hands to finger or feel
    • Talk and hear
    • Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

 

Work Environment

  • Occasionally exposed to:
    • Moving parts
    • Fumes and/or airborne particles
    • Extreme heat
    • Risk of shock
  • Noise level is loud at times
