<p>We are seeking a resourceful and motivated Summer Intern to join our Audio Technology team. The selected intern will work along with the Algorithms and Software development teams under the mentorship of senior engineers. Will contribute to developing and implementing advanced audio signal processing algorithms that enhance the sound experience in the premier cars of the future. Will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing algorithms for a range of applications from speech signal processing to high fidelity sound playback. Will collaborate with other teams to create innovative solutions that enhance speech quality, improve the listening experience in the car cabin and push the boundaries of audio technology. The selected candidate will be given extensive opportunities to learn and to share knowledge.</p>
<p><strong>Role/Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Design and develop advanced audio signal processing algorithms for applications that include acoustic echo reduction, noise reduction, sound enhancement, and spatial audio</li>
<li>Implement and optimize audio DSP algorithms in C and C++ for real-time processing on embedded hardware systems</li>
<li>Research state-of-the-art audio technologies and contribute to our intellectual property portfolio</li>
<li>Collaborate with hardware engineers on the efficient implementation of algorithms on target platforms</li>
<li>Develop, test, and debug audio signal processing libraries and frameworks</li>
<li>Perform algorithm comparative analysis, benchmarking, and optimization to meet performance and quality targets</li>
<li>Communicate regularly with senior engineers and other team members to provide progress updates and receive feedback</li>
<li>Participate in team meetings and contribute to team projects as needed</li>
<li>Voice User Interface and Media and Voice Playback in the car cabin.</li>
<li>Developing High Fidelity audio playback for in-car infotainment systems. Prototyping advanced Voice-based User Interfaces for future products.</li>
<li>Exploration and research on voice capture and audio playback processing, using a combination of traditional signal processing techniques and Machine Learning techniques.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong>:</p>
<ul>
<li>Background in digital signal processing theory through coursework</li>
<li>Familiarity with the application of digital signal processing on audio signals</li>
<li>Familiarity with the application of machine learning tools and techniques on audio signals</li>
<li>Demonstrated competency in C++ programming and performance optimization</li>
<li>Knowledge of audio enhancement methods such as dynamics processing and spatial audio</li>
<li>Familiarity with acoustics and psychoacoustics</li>
<li>Exposure to real-time audio systems and real-time OS constraints</li>
<li>Familiarity with numerical processing tools such as MATLAB, Python, NumPy, SciPy or similar</li>
<li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills</li>
<li>Demonstrated competency in communicating clearly to explain complex technical concepts</li>
<li>Publications in peer-reviewed journals or conferences related to signal processing</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Education</strong>:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Field(s) of study</strong>: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field</li>
<li>Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program at an accredited university.</li>
<li>Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS)</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Program Information</strong>:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Timing:</strong> May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.</li>
<li><strong>Duration of Internship</strong>: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.</li>
<li><strong>Work Location & Environment: </strong>This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.</li>
<li><strong>Compensation</strong>: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $50 to $70 (Subject to changes).</li>
<li><strong>Relocation:</strong> May be provided on a case-to-case basis.</li>
<li><strong>Housing/Transportation:</strong> You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.</li>
<li><strong>Background Check:</strong> All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.</li>
<li><strong>Drug Screening:</strong> All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.</li>
<li><strong>Medical benefits:</strong> Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.</li>
<li><strong>Visa Sponsorship</strong>: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization.</li>
