Deloitte has one of the largest Indirect Tax and Global Trade Advisory practice in Singapore, and is regarded within the firm as one of the leading and most successful service lines, with a reputation for being proactive, entrepreneurial, successful and fun to work with.  

This is a position with Deloitte’s rapidly expanding Global Trade practice, providing tailored advice and solutions to a broad range of clients, both domestic and multinationals looking to gain access into various markets from a regulatory, trade and customs perspective.

 

As an Associate, you will be learning regulations and principles that form the hallmark of international trade, applying principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Customs Organization (WCO) on market access and border taxation, working closely with the team in helping companies navigate through tariff and non-tariff barriers, devising appropriate strategies and learning to use proprietary Deloitte technology and tools in the global trade advisory arena.

 

In addition, with increasing environmental and sustainability requirements affecting global trade today, you will also be working with the ESG team providing advisory on carbon tax, CBAM and other extended producer responsibility schemes that are becoming more relevant to global supply chains.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

You will join a team of dedicated customs and international trade specialists, providing advice and hands-on assistance on projects involving the use of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), HS Code classification, customs valuation and transfer pricing, export controls, supply chain management and applying for trade schemes provided by Singapore Customs and related authorities. 

 

Other responsibilities include supporting the team carry out trade compliance reviews arising from business restructurings, M&A, and working on complex customs and trade disputes involving duties, taxes and other WTO-related disciplines.  

 

In addition, you will also have the opportunity to participate in the implementation of global trade solutions for clients. This includes delivering compliance and customs solutions, advice and other assistance in the form of solution design, change management, project management and solution implementation.

Requirements
•    You should have a degree with a major in international trade, law, accounting and finance, economics or other supply chain-related fields. 
•    Strong interest in varied work and able to meet tight deadlines, presenting complex issues clearly and concisely.
•    Ability to synthesize complex information, critically analyze and articulate thoughts clearly.
•    Excellent research and project management skills, together with interpersonal and communication skills.  
•    Fresh graduates who want to pursue a career in international trade are encouraged to apply.
