Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.
Position: Internship
Duration: 6 months (Full-time)
Location: Bangalore, Karnataka
Start Date: April, 2026
Team: Material Systems and Inspection, GE Aerospace Research
Objective
Design and build an interactive Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) software interface that encodes inspection logic/flowcharts. Implement rule-based and algorithmic flows that guide inspection decisions, integrate inputs from text and CAD geometries, and deliver a reliable, validated tool with engineers and inspectors to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Build an intuitive interface for authoring, executing, and visualizing NDE logic/flowcharts
- Translate NDE procedures/standards into executable rules, decision trees, and validations
- Ingest and parse inputs from text and CAD geometries, map geometry to inspection logic
- Implement data processing utilities (basic signal/image prep) to support decision flows
- Create dashboards to present inputs, logic paths, and output recommendations
- Write clean, documented code with unit tests and basic CI; maintain versioned logic sets
- Collaborate with NDE/engineering SMEs to validate outputs and iterate quickly
Basic Qualifications
- Pursuing BS/MS in CS, Software/EE/ME/Aero, or Physics
- Proficiency in Python or C++ (JavaScript/TypeScript a plus)
- Experience with UI/application development and data parsing
- Familiarity with signal/image processing or data analysis
- Comfortable with Git and standard development workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to NDE (UT/PAUT, EC, RT/DR/CT, thermography) and inspection procedures
- Experience with rule engines/decision trees, workflow modelling, or state machines
- Python stack (NumPy, SciPy, pandas), scikit-image/OpenCV; or UI frameworks (Dash/Plotly, React, Qt)
- CAD/text parsing (e.g., STEP/IGES, DXF, STL; regex/NLP basics) and geometry libraries
- Knowledge of filtering, registration, and feature extraction; ML familiarity a plus
