<p>Neptune Medical Robotics, a division of Neptune Medical, is an innovative, venture capital funded medical device startup headquartered in Burlingame, CA. We have already commercialized novel medical devices using our technology. Now the team at Neptune is building something truly unique: a fully flexible medical robot that enables doctors to reach deep into human anatomy. Our robot will disrupt flexible endoscopy and set a new standard in outcomes for decades to come.</p> <p><strong>TITLE: &nbsp;Robotics </strong><strong>Product Development Engineering Intern, Robotics</strong></p> <p><strong>DURATION:&nbsp; </strong>3 months</p> <p><strong>START DATE: &nbsp;</strong>Summer 2026 (start May/June)&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>POSITION SUMMARY:&nbsp; </strong>We are seeking a current undergraduate for a role as an engineering summer intern on our Medical Robotics team.&nbsp; The ideal candidate would demonstrate the ability to meet and exceed the below requirements, would show a high level of individual responsibility, and would act with passion and intensity in a fast-paced and collaborative medical device start-up. This position will be a paid internship during the summer of 2026, approximately 3 months in duration.</p> <p><strong>ESSENTIAL CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES: </strong></p> <ul> <li>Assist with extensive testing, including on the bench and in tissue models.</li> <li>Conceive of, design, build, test, and evolve prototypes.</li> <li>Design and implement fixtures that can be used for design and manufacturing optimization.</li> <li>CAD components and assemblies.</li> <li>Develop test methods, protocols, and reports to evaluate components, systems, and processes.</li> <li>Create manufacturing methods &amp; documentation, including Manufacturing Process Instructions and Bills of Materials.</li> <li>Perform analytical calculations.</li> <li>Work closely with vendors.</li> <li>Work well both independently and as part of a fast-moving, collaborative team.</li> </ul> <p><strong>THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:</strong><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Undergraduate majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical / Biomechanical Engineering. Related majors are acceptable. Applicants must be returning to finish their education after the duration of the internship.</li> <li><strong><em>Significant hands-on engineering experience and aptitude is a must.</em></strong></li> <li>Familiarity working with electromechanical systems and data analysis with Matlab/Python</li> <li>Familiarity with basic hand tools and fabrication methods such as machining, injection molding, and 3D printing.</li> <li>Inventive and balanced with discipline and attention to detail.</li> <li>A demonstrated desire to play an important role in a small, lean, medical device start-up.</li> <li>Willing to commit to at least 10 to 12 weeks, ideally longer. Expectation is to work on-site during normal business hours.</li> </ul> <p>Neptune Medical is located in Burlingame, CA, near the Millbrae Caltrain and BART station.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Our job titles may span more than one career level. This is a non-exempt, hourly role and the starting base salary for this role is between $31/hour and $38/hour depending on experience. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
