About the Role

Mercury Systems is seeking a motivated and innovative Electrical Engineering Intern eager to learn, contribute, and bring fresh ideas to complex design challenges. In this hands-on role, you’ll gain experience across the full hardware development lifecycle while working closely with a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering team.

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Work with experienced electrical engineers to support hardware design, development, integration, and testing
  • Participate as a hands-on contributor throughout the development lifecycle, including schematic design, layout support, design verification testing (DVT), validation, and optimization
  • Design, develop, and verify complex circuits or submodules using modern schematic capture tools
  • Support board bring-up activities, including drafting test plans and documenting test results
  • Assist with product validation testing such as EMC, power, thermal, and environmental stress screening
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Software, and Procurement
  • Support production by helping troubleshoot manufacturing issues and field failure investigations
  • Drive procurement of prototype materials to verify form, fit, and function
  • Create and maintain Bills of Material (BoMs/PLs)
  • Draft and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
  • Apply design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT) principles

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
  • A minimum GPA of 3.1 is required. You will be asked to submit your transcripts during the review process

  • Basic understanding of high-speed digital and analog circuitry, power management, and electromagnetic interference (EMI)

  • General knowledge of electronic schematic tools (e.g., Allegro Design Entry HDL, Mentor Graphics/DXDesigner)

  • Familiarity with digital test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies

  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Proficiency with standard documentation and presentation tools

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Exposure to conventional and advanced manufacturing techniques
  • Hands-on lab experience including soldering or rework equipment

  • Prior internship, co-op, or academic project experience related to hardware design or testing
