Mercury Systems is seeking a motivated and innovative Mechanical Engineering Intern eager to learn, contribute, and bring fresh ideas to complex design challenges. In this hands-on role, you’ll support the design and integration of electronic modules, subsystems, and rugged server assemblies from concept through production.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support mechanical design efforts for electronic modules, subsystems, and rack-mounted server hardware

Assist with mechanical packaging design, printed wiring board layout, connector selection, cable and label design, prototype inspection and assembly as well as ECAD support

Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams including Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement

Participate in the full product lifecycle; from concept development through integration, testing, and production release

Create and maintain 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks
-
Contribute to documentation required for procurement, assembly, verification, and validation

Support environmental testing, inspection reports, and test plan development

Help structure Bills of Material (BOMs) and support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs/ECOs)

Assist with procuring prototype materials to validate form, fit, and function

Communicate design concepts and technical documentation to both internal and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- A minimum GPA of 3.1 is required. You will be asked to submit your transcripts during the review process
- Basic understanding of heat transfer and thermal management principles

Familiarity with conventional and advanced manufacturing methods, including additive manufacturing

Experience with 3D CAD tools

Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

Proficiency with standard documentation and presentation tools

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with electronics hardware assembly

Familiarity with GD&T and technical drawings
-
Experience using SolidWorks PDM tools
