The MBC group is based in Philadelphia and New Orleans, however, all work arrangements are authorized - in-office, hybrid, and remote. Intern applications will be accepted through January 15, 2026.

MBC turns analysis into results for complex government clients by providing financial, budgetary, operations, and management consultation. Since 1993, MBC has been involved in some of the most significant government turnaround efforts in the country: turning sizable deficits into surpluses in cities, counties and states and improving criminal justice systems across the nation.

The Intern contributes directly to projects and advises real policy decisions made by government leaders.  Interested candidates should be creative problem solvers, ready to help government leaders tackle real problems that matter to their communities.

The MBC Internship involves:

•    Benchmarking and measuring performance of state and municipal governments including large cities, counties, and school districts
•    Analyzing data, including demographic, economic, and budgetary trends that signal current and future fiscal and operational challenges
•    Conducting research on innovative government practices that improve services to residents or reduce costs for taxpayers

Key Attributes of Interns:
•    Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without visa sponsorship now or in the future
•    Undergraduate junior, senior, postgraduate, or master’s candidate with coursework in government, political science, economics, public policy and/or related areas of study
•    Strong writing and research skills
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
•    Ability to perform quantitative analysis
•    Comfortable speaking with government staff on the phone or in person
•    Demonstrated ability or interest in working with state and municipal governments on financial, operational and policy challenges, as evidenced by prior professional experience, internships, or relevant academic coursework

PFM is proud to help our clients make well-informed and prudent decisions regarding the capital markets, investments, and municipal management. The functions they serve and decisions they make contribute directly to the communities in which we all live and work.
