The SPLC is a catalyst for racial justice in the South and beyond, working in partnership with communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements, and advance the human rights of all people.
We focus our legal, advocacy, and public education efforts on four major areas representing some of the most significant challenges facing the South and beyond: protecting voting rights and civic engagement; eradicating poverty in our Southern communities; dismantling white nationalism and protecting democracy; and decriminalizing and decarcerating Black and Brown people.
About the Role
<h1>The SPLC is seeking Video Production and Editing interns to join our Creative team!</h1>

<p>The Southern Poverty Law Center is looking for a Video Production and Editing Intern to join our award-winning creative team and work firsthand to develop dynamic and creative solutions for various projects and forms. This role will be a great entry into supporting the creative team and the organization’s mission and values. This position will be responsible for producing, editing and delivering SPLC video projects across various platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.</p>
<h3>Who You Are</h3>
<p><strong>Skilled. </strong>Ability to use both original and stock footage in video creation<strong>.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Storyteller. </strong>Ability to produce and edit with an emphasis on conceptual storytelling<strong>.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Attentive. </strong>Detail oriented across all projects while establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.</p>
<p><strong>Knowledgeable. </strong>Demonstrated knowledge in Adobe Suite and strong typographic, photographic, and communication skills. Knowledge of social media platforms and community-led networks.</p>
<p><strong>Communicative. </strong>Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally.</p>
<p><strong>Visually Aware. </strong>Strong sense of timing and visual awareness.</p>
<h3>What You'll Do</h3>
<p><strong>Research </strong>both photography and video in various stock and video image suppliers to deliver compelling and on-brand content;</p>
<p><strong>Conceptualize, </strong>produce, and edit short format videos;<strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Collaborate </strong>with other members of the Creative team<strong> </strong>to support ongoing projects;</p>
<p><strong>Uphold our JEDI principles </strong>by helping to ensure we uplift the voices of underserved communities.</p>
<h3>Minimum Qualifications </h3>
<p><em>We are committed to equitable hiring practices. Therefore, you must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for the role.</em></p>
<ul>
<li>Currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year graphic design program.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Compensation & Benefits</h3>
<p>The Center pays $17.95 per hour. Interns are expected to work 40 hours a week and there may be an opportunity for supervisor approved overtime</p>
<h3>Where & How You'll Work </h3>
<p>This role has the following work designations:</p>
<ul>
<li>Remote Local: Will work remotely but is expected to attend work-related activities that occur at the SPLC offices or in the states in which the SPLC operates.</li>
<li>Remote Distant: Will work remotely and are not expected to work in the states in which the SPLC has an office or in an SPLC office. They may be required to attend occasional meetings or activities in the states in which the SPLC has an office or elsewhere.</li>
<li>Telework: Will work at an SPLC office at least three days per week and may work two days per week from an alternative work location.</li>
<li>This position will report to the Director, Creative.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Other Special Considerations </h3>
<ul>
<li>This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.</li>
<li>Due to the high volume of applications received, we are unable to respond to inquiries by telephone.</li>
<li>Interns are expected to begin on June 1, 2026. A minimum commitment of ten consecutive weeks is expected. We unfortunately are not able to split summers.</li>
