A Caring Alternative offers internships to provide higher education students a wide variety of educational disciplines and the opportunity to apply traditional academic classroom learning to actual work experience. Internships are supervised and provide a structured experience in your chosen field of study.

Intern Duties include:

  • Participate in trainings specific to their scope of service at A Caring Alternative
  • Participate observationally and/or directly in clinical interactions with consumers based on their training, experience, and practicum or internship requirement needs, but all direct and indirect service will be closely supervised by the appropriate supervisor as defined above 
  • May participate in clinical and/or administrative development initiatives of A Caring Alternative if these activities are within the scope of their training needs
  • Maintain ethical standards and exemplary clinical standards of service, including but not limited to confidential handling and communication of clinical information, appropriate handling of client record information when accessible to them, and other standards of professional performance and conduct as defined by the policies and procedures and code of conduct of A Caring Alternative and their licensing board 
  • Other duties related to direct and indirect functions of A Caring Alternative Alternative                                                                               

 

Requirements:

  1. Must have junior or senior standing
  2. Must be enrolled in a four-year degree program, or be enrolled in the last semester of a two-year degree program, or be enrolled in a graduate program, or be enrolled in college-level coursework and have special measurable technical skills.
  3. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  4. Have strong initiative and the ability to work independently

 

A Caring Alternative, LLC is a CARF accredited service provider with facilities in Asheville, Hickory, Marion, and Morganton, NC. A Caring Alternative, LLC is CABHA certified and a Trauma Informed Agency. We provide an array of services to Alexander, Buncombe, Burke, Catawba, Caldwell, Iredell, McDowell, and Mitchell counties which consist of Assertive Community Treatment Team, Community Support Team, Day Treatment, Integrated Care, Intensive In-Home, Medication Management, Outpatient Therapy, and Therapeutic Foster Care.
