Community Health Center (CHC) has long been at the forefront of accessible, innovative, and integrated health care. In a rapidly evolving landscape where patients face challenges such as provider shortages, complex insurance systems, and limited appointment availability, CHC continues to adapt by applying technology and quality improvement (QI) strategies to strengthen patient care.

The Quality Improvement Intern plays a key role in supporting CHC’s mission by improving existing workflows, implementing MassHealth quality requirements, and contributing to initiatives that enhance efficiency and care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with the Quality Improvement team.
  • Interact with staff and patients to gather feedback and support QI projects.
  • Apply Lean and PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) cycles to identify, test, and refine workflow improvements.
  • Conduct root cause analyses to identify inefficiencies in care processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for leadership, including the Chief Medical Officer, and Quality Improvement Coordinator.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to team discussions.
  • Support data collection and documentation aligned with MassHealth and other quality measures.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for daily tasks and project deliverables.

 

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student (public health, healthcare administration, nursing, business, or related field preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with quality improvement tools and methods (LEAN, PDSA).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfort interacting with patients and professional staff.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented.
  • Adaptable to new situations and evolving project needs.
  • Organized with the ability to articulate needs and complete tasks on time.
  • Commitment: Minimum of 12 hours per week (in-office or remote hybrid options available).
  • Eligibility: Open to undergraduate and graduate students.
