Responsibilities

Tiza Serrano Thompson & Associates, Claims Litigation Counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in Sacramento, California, is hiring a Spring and Summer Law Intern who will have exposure to litigation and trial practice. The internship strives to provide a balanced and realistic representation of the function of Claims Litigation Counsel, as well as real world exposure to a multitude of legal services being provided. The selected individual will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with attorneys on assigned projects, observe every phase of litigation, and will have a designated mentor throughout the internship. We enjoy an active, busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented, professional work environment with skilled support staff.  The spring and summer intern will be paid at a rate of $35/hr and will receive a $2,000 intern stipend in the summer. 


Qualifications

  • Candidate must be currently enrolled as a 2L (class of 2027) student in an ABA or CBA accredited law school and must remain enrolled as a student for the duration of the internship with at least one term remaining following Summer 2026.
  • Preferred class ranking in the top half of their class
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Internship Details: 

  • Hours: 
    • Spring: Monday-Friday, 15 hours per week
    • Summer: Monday-Friday, 38.75 hours per week
    • It is an expectation that hired interns will be available for the duration of the internship with little to no disruption in work schedule.
  • Pay: $35/hour.  In addition, interns in our summer internship program will be eligible for a $2,000 stipend!
  • Work Arrangement: HYBRID – During the spring, selected interns should plan to spend most of their time working in the office.  Over the summer, we will move to a hybrid work arrangement with some time available to work from home.  Work arrangements may change based on business need.  Please note that relocation benefits will not apply.  Based on this requirement, we are seeking students from local area law schools.
