This is an on-site position located in Carol Stream, IL.
Position Summary: Antunes is seeking a talented and motivated Engineering Intern to join our Innovation team. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field) and a strong aptitude for experimentation and prototyping. This role requires a hands-on approach to ideate, design, develop, and test innovative solutions. The Innovation Engineering Intern will work closely with the Innovation team, and sometimes cross-functionally, iterating rapidly on ideas and prototypes, and embracing the concept of failing often and failing fast to drive innovation.
Essential Role Responsibilities
● Design, develop and test innovative solutions and prototypes for new and existing products.
● Participate in brainstorming sessions, design thinking, design research and user research to generate insights & validate design solutions.
● Develop and test prototypes to evaluate jobs to be done, performance, reliability, and safety.
● Present design concepts to internal teams and customers, incorporating feedback to refine solutions.
● Communicate design ideas effectively through detailed sketches, 3D models, prototypes, and presentations.
● Create and maintain detailed documentation for designs, specifications, and test results comprehensively.
● Support the Innovation department in achieving project goals and timelines.
● Perform other related duties as assigned by department team leader(s).
Qualifications
Essential Skills & Role Qualifications
● Proficiency in experimentation, prototyping, and creative problem-solving skills with a passion for innovation.
● Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform engineering calculations and simulations.
● Understanding of design thinking, design for manufacturability, and design for assembly principles. (preferred)
● Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, including but not limited to hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation/robotics.
● Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
● Adaptability and willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced environment.
● Detail oriented with a commitment to excellence in all aspects of design work.
● Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Essential Education & Experience
● Bachelor of Science in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Mechatronics) or related experience.
● High school interns will be considered based on relevant skills and interests.
● Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and customers.
