What You’ll Do as an Engineering Intern:
As an Engineering Intern at Interplastic’s Minneapolis plant, you will work closely with engineers, plant leadership, and cross-functional teams to support manufacturing operations, process improvements, and engineering projects. This role is designed to help students apply classroom learning in a practical setting while gaining exposure to chemical manufacturing and industrial operations.
What You Can Expect to Do in This Role:
Assist with engineering projects related to manufacturing processes, equipment, and operational efficiency.
Support data collection, analysis, and reporting to aid engineering and production decision-making.
Participate in plant floor activities, process observations, and improvement initiatives.
Help develop or update SOPs, work instructions, process documentation, or engineering reports.
Contribute to continuous improvement, safety, and quality initiatives.
Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.
Learn about composite materials, resin and gel coat manufacturing processes, and plant operations.
Build professional skills in problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and time management.
What We Are Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).
Interest in manufacturing, process engineering, or industrial operations.
Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based, plant environment.
Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Word, email, etc.).
Preferred (but Not Required):
Previous internship, co-op, or hands-on project experience.
Coursework related to manufacturing, chemical engineering, or materials science.
Curiosity, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Pay Transparency:
Hourly Compensation: $25.00
Hours and schedule can be adjusted based on academic requirements.
