What You’ll Do as an Engineering Intern:

As an Engineering Intern at Interplastic’s Minneapolis plant, you will work closely with engineers, plant leadership, and cross-functional teams to support manufacturing operations, process improvements, and engineering projects. This role is designed to help students apply classroom learning in a practical setting while gaining exposure to chemical manufacturing and industrial operations.


What You Can Expect to Do in This Role:

  • Assist with engineering projects related to manufacturing processes, equipment, and operational efficiency.

  • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting to aid engineering and production decision-making.

  • Participate in plant floor activities, process observations, and improvement initiatives.

  • Help develop or update SOPs, work instructions, process documentation, or engineering reports.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement, safety, and quality initiatives.

  • Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.

  • Learn about composite materials, resin and gel coat manufacturing processes, and plant operations.

  • Build professional skills in problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and time management.


What We Are Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).

  • Interest in manufacturing, process engineering, or industrial operations.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based, plant environment.

  • Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Word, email, etc.).

Preferred (but Not Required):

  • Previous internship, co-op, or hands-on project experience.

  • Coursework related to manufacturing, chemical engineering, or materials science.

  • Curiosity, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Pay Transparency:

Hourly Compensation: $25.00
Hours and schedule can be adjusted based on academic requirements.
