What You’ll Do as an Engineering Intern:

As an Engineering Intern at Interplastic’s Hawthorne plant, you will gain direct exposure to manufacturing operations, engineering processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll work closely with engineers, plant leaders, and cross-functional teams to support projects that impact production efficiency, quality, and safety.

This internship is designed to provide practical engineering experience while helping you explore a career in manufacturing and materials science.


What You Can Expect to Do in This Role:

  • Support engineering projects related to manufacturing processes, equipment, and production improvements.

  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and documentation to support engineering and operational decisions.

  • Participate in plant floor activities, including process observations and troubleshooting.

  • Help create or update engineering documentation, SOPs, work instructions, or reports.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or safety initiatives.

  • Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.

  • Learn about composite materials, chemical manufacturing processes, and plant operations.

  • Build professional skills in problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and time management.


What We Are Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).

  • Interest in manufacturing, process engineering, or industrial operations.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • Willingness to learn and work in a team-based, plant environment.

  • Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Word, email, etc.).

Preferred (but Not Required):

  • Prior internship, co-op, or hands-on project experience.

  • Coursework related to manufacturing, process engineering, or materials science.

  • Curiosity, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Pay Transparency:

Hourly Compensation: $25.00
Hours and schedule can be adjusted based on academic requirements.
