We are seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Student, for our Atlantic Canada district, within our Canadian Buildings Division, that is available for 4 months starting in May 2026, to work in Halifax, NS.

 

As an Occupational Health and Safety Student, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

Responsibilities

  • Assisting HSE Professionals with inspections and incidental investigations.
  • Managing documents (ie. data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, filing etc.).
  • Assisting with the orientation of new employees.
  • Developing training materials.
  • Reviewing paperwork (ie. PSI, tailgate meetings, safework procedure, trend analysis).
  • Monitoring and maintaining the environmental program.
  • Recognizing and following PCL and local legislative requirements.
  • Analyzing site-specific trends and incidents and reporting findings to the district.
  • Gathering/reviewing/distributing safety-related statistical information.
  • Interpreting, communicating, and reinforcing project safety standards to our workforce.

Qualifications

  • Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems which meet compliance.
  • Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards.
  • The ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent the likelihood of reoccurrence.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong willingness to learn.
