Department Description
Within the Packaging, Device, and Design Solutions (PDDS) department is the Early Engagement and Deviceability (EE&D) group who is responsible for derisking early-stage assets aimed for development as drug-device combination (DDC) products. The EE&D team integrates the drug product, primary packaging, and device together for early programs with the intent to identify technical risks and establish mitigation strategies before transitioning to late-stage industrialization.
Job Description
We are seeking a Spring Co-op to work within the Early Engagement and Deviceability team. The selected candidate for this position will support early device workstreams for our increasingly complex drug-device combination (DDC) products.
Main responsibilities include the following:
- Ensuring the selected devices meet user requirements through lab testing activities and simulation-based work packages
- Evaluating the technical feasibility of new device technology innovations to support expanding portfolio requirements
- Using problem solving skills and different strategies to support risk mitigation activities and/or root-cause analysis of test results
Minimum Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or similar discipline.
- Experience working in a lab and following SOPs.
- Experience/interest in development of drug-device combination (DDC) products or medical devices.
- Creative and motivated self-starter, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in team and matrix environments.
- Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the 6 month co-op (March ~ September 2026).
- Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion to learn and grow outside of comfort zone.
- Familiarity with primary packaging systems (i.e. prefilled syringes and cartridges).
- Experience with DoE and statistical modeling softwares (i.e. JMP and Minitab).
Eligibility Requirements
- Must successfully pass a drug screen and background check prior to assignment target start date.

Benefits
- While GSK embraces a flexible work environment, we do require certain positions to be onsite. Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position.
- GSK Interns and Co-ops are offered a competitive hourly pay rate and benefits. Please note, benefits eligibility determined the month following date of hire.
This job posting is for a temporary role as an employee of Atrium on assignment at GSK. The individual selected for this role will be offered the role as an employee of Atrium; compensation, medical benefits, fringe benefits and other terms and conditions of employment shall be presented by Atrium upon offer. The pay rate range provided is a reasonable estimate of the anticipated compensation range for this job at the time of posting. The actual pay rate will be based on several factors, including skills, competencies, experience, educational degree obtained, location and/or being pursued and other job-related factors permitted by law.
In addition, this role will be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirement.
Pay Rate Range: $21/hr to $40/hr
