Department Description
Facilities Engineering: Focused on the engineering and maintenance of GSK facilities and ensuring full functionality and minimal disruption. Our department performs engineering work in operations, production or maintenance environments. Designs and scales up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment, and tests manufactured products to maintain quality. Plans, designs and estimates time and cost, and oversees maintenance of structures, facilities, systems and components. Analyses and develops solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures. Develops and applies engineering standards and procedures and provides advice on issues within the engineering field.
Job Description
Are you looking for an opportunity to enhance your facilities expertise while providing technical support for capital improvement projects and equipment upgrades involving stationary and rotating equipment? If so, this is the role for you.
As a Facilities Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for recommending preventative maintenance strategies to ensure reliability of critical plant equipment. You will also develop and recommend improvements and design changes for electrical and mechanical systems. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
- Develop technical specifications for maintenance repairs and replacements involving rotating and stationary equipment.
- Create and lead improvement procedures generated by various sources.
- Provide technical support for capital improvement projects and equipment upgrades involving stationary and rotating equipment.
- Support facility engineering department in completing tasks or troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.
- Manage contractors providing improvement services to the facility.
- Complete safety documents to support the department specific activities.
- Maintain and complete equipment records, and documentation related to tests, maintenance, modifications and repairs.
- Perform routine daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance programs of all electrical and mechanical operating systems.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical and mechanical operating systems, equipment and components.
Minimum Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
- Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the duration of 12 week internship (May/June ~ August 2026).
- Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of industrial controls systems.
- Aptitude for creating written procedures and maintenance plans.
- Knowledge of MS Office and SAP.
- Knowledge of root cause failure analysis methods.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to solve problems and utilize learning and critical thinking.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Must successfully pass a drug screen and background check prior to assignment target start date.

- While GSK embraces a flexible work environment, we do require certain positions to be onsite. Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position.
- GSK Interns and Co-ops are offered a competitive hourly pay rate and benefits. Please note, benefits eligibility determined the month following date of hire.
This job posting is for a temporary role as an employee of Atrium on assignment at GSK. The individual selected for this role will be offered the role as an employee of Atrium; compensation, medical benefits, fringe benefits and other terms and conditions of employment shall be presented by Atrium upon offer. The pay rate range provided is a reasonable estimate of the anticipated compensation range for this job at the time of posting. The actual pay rate will be based on several factors, including skills, competencies, experience, educational degree obtained, location and/or being pursued and other job-related factors permitted by law.
In addition, this role will be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirement.
Pay Rate Range: $22/hr to $43/hr
