About the Role

Description

Cru Concrete, Inc. is seeking an AI Intern to help us identify, design, and prototype opportunities where artificial intelligence can improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and streamline workflows across the company.

This role is highly exploratory and people-facing. You will spend significant time interviewing staff, understanding how work happens day-to-day, identifying time-intensive or repetitive tasks, and proposing AI-enabled solutions, from simple automations to more advanced workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured interviews with team members across departments. Document how time is spent, where friction exists, and what tasks feel repetitive or inefficient.
  • Identify tasks or workflows where AI could save time, improve consistency, reduce manual effort, and enhance decision-making.
  • Evaluate the impact and risk of potential AI use cases and help prioritize which opportunities to pursue.
  • Help design repeatable processes for using AI effectively and standardizing prompts, workflows, or internal tools.
  • Help create an internal playbook or best practices for AI usage. Create clear, non-technical documentation that staff can understand and use.

What Success Looks Like

By the end of the internship, you will have:

  • Mapped how work is performed across key roles
  • Identified high-impact opportunities for AI assistance
  • Proposed (and potentially piloted) concrete AI-enabled workflows
  • Documentation and frameworks the company can continue to use

What You’ll Gain

  • Real-world experience applying AI to operational problems
  • Exposure to leadership decision-making and business strategy
  • A portfolio of applied AI work grounded in real constraints
  • Mentorship and feedback from an organization actively investing in AI

Requirements

Required

  • Strong curiosity about how businesses operate
  • Excellent listening and interviewing skills
  • Ability to synthesize messy, qualitative information into clear insight and explain technical ideas in plain language.
  • Self-directed, organized, and comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Coursework or experience in: artificial intelligence, computer science, data science, business analytics, operations, industrial engineering, or systems thinking

Preferred

  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs), automation tools (e.g., Zapier, Make, Python scripts, etc.), process mapping or workflow analysis
  • Experience prompting or experimenting with AI tools beyond basic use
  • Basic ability to prototype (Excel/Sheets, low-code tools, Python, Zapier/Make, etc.)
