Summer 2026 Internship: Life Sciences Informatics Intern, Science & Research

Location: Long Island City, NY, US

We are currently looking for a Life Sciences Informatics Intern at our Long Island City, NY office.

The 2026 dsm-firmenich Summer Internship Program will run from June 1, 2026 to August 14, 2026.

 

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Your key responsibilities

  • Align with biologists, chemists, and operations workforce to understand chemical tracking requirements
  • Aid in database redesign
  • Implement standardized queries using proper cybersecure protocols
  • Design, build, and deploy a web-based interface for interacting with chemical inventory

You Bring

  • Currently working on completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Data Science, or related field
  • Must be available to work full-time on-site beginning on June 1, 2026 to August 14, 2026.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize and parse data
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following: Python, JavaScript (Svelte preferred), SQL, Rust
  • Experience working with biological or chemical datasets

 

 

The hourly rate for this position is $23.00 - $26.00 per hour.  Compensation will be dependent on factors that include location, education, training, specific skills, and years of experience.

 

At the end of this internship, you will:

Have hands on experience working with scientists across domains, gathering an understanding of how different teams can work together and impact each other. You will directly impact the productivity of multiple departments through the design and deployment of both the frontend and backend of a chemical management and tracking system.
