About the Role

We are now accepting applications for the Keyera Summer Student Program for our Calgary office and field locations. To be eligible for Keyera’s Summer Student program, students must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and be enrolled for fall studies. Keyera summer students must be available for the duration of the work term which runs from May – August.

Job Description:

Keyera is currently seeking summer students for various roles across Alberta, including the Edmonton, Central Alberta, and Calgary areas. For a detailed breakdown of available roles and responsibilities, please review the RESPONSIBILITIES section for each geographical area below.

These exciting and dynamic positions aim to provide summer students with valuable exposure to opportunities within the energy sector, while helping to develop their skillsets through a variety of responsibilities. These are temporary roles for the months of May to August 2026 and are open only to students who will be returning to post-secondary studies in the Fall of 2026.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Courageous safety leader who works to ensure that your work, your team’s work, and the area you work in is safe for everyone. 

  • Positive attitude, problem solving abilities, and strong attention to detail. 

  • Comfortable with technical writing, presentation skills, and knowledge transfer to various stakeholders 

  • Able to complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision and within team environments. 

  • Must be willing to complete all safety and role-specific training and follow safety rules and regulations while on site. 

  • Must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and be returning to college/university in the Fall 2026 semester. 

  • Experience with office management tools and systems, such as Microsoft Suites 

  • Must be at least 18 years old to be considered. 

  • May be required to complete a pre-employment test and/or submit a satisfactory drivers' abstract as a condition of employment. 

  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry and an understanding of the midstream sector is an asset. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Calgary Area

Human Resources Summer Student – Calgary  

  • Support the HR Talent and Culture teams with general administrative work that may include generating letters/documents, analytics and supporting with preparing presentations and slide decks.

  • Supporting with projects that will require extrapolation and analysis of data.

  • Previous experience with SharePoint will be an asset.

  • Support and maintain daily administrative activities such as printing, filing, and photocopying company documents.

  • Perform data entry and maintaining internal databases and records.

  • Assist in other administrative projects as requested.

  • Support broader HR team with general administrative work that may include generating letters/documents, analytics and supporting with preparing presentations and slide decks.

  • Support Talent Attraction team with screening resumes and coordinating/scheduling interviews.

  • Scheduling and coordinating of meetings and training sessions.

Communications Summer Student – Calgary 

  • Support the Communications team with internal and external communications initiatives, including the planning and development of content.

  • Write for a variety of audiences and channels, including our weekly newsletter, intranet, social media, etc.

  • Participate in emergency drills as required.

  • Support a key Summer project - the set up and implementation of our digital asset management system.

Law Summer Student – Calgary

  • Research and present various legal matters, as assigned.

  • Review and comment on commercial agreements, as assigned.

  • Draft various policies, template agreements, legal pleadings, memoranda; and provide clerical support.

  • The successful candidate will have completed first or second year of a three-year program at a Canadian Law School

Business Development Summer Student – Calgary

  • Assist in developing data analytics to support business development objectives

  • Perform ad hoc asset performance analysis, and maintain and develop dashboards and databases for department metrics, fundamentals, and KPIs

  • Monitor, analyze, and prepare briefing notes on market, partner, and policy news

  • Support the preparation of materials for internal stakeholders

Business Development Summer Student, Liquids Infrastructure – Calgary

  • Keeping apprised of industry trends, regulations and policies while ensuring Keyera is positioned to support infrastructure needs based on those trends.

  • Work collaboratively with the team that looks after frac and storage, and help refine our models and maps.

  • You will work with the team to help prepare and present new opportunities for Keyera.

Marketing Summer Student – Calgary

  • Update supply/demand models to support marketing decisions

  • Track daily commodity prices, pipeline flows, inventory levels, and other macro/micro variables

  • Generate daily/weekly pricing and commodity commentary reports to guide marketing decisions and strategy

  • Research and generate analysis on gas and liquids production trends, commodity differentials, domestic and international market trends, and explore political, environmental, technological, social and economic forces.

  • Assist in creating advanced PowerPoint presentations for internal and external parties

  • Support commercial efforts through Excel modeling and evaluation of commercial opportunities

  • Support ad hoc requests and analysis as required

Summer Student – IT Desktop Support – Calgary

  • Provide desktop support for hardware and software issues to end users.

  • Incident management for various desktop hardware and software

  • Assist with IMAC tasks, including installation, relocation, addition, and removal of computer equipment and peripherals.

  • Set up new user workstations and ensure proper configuration of devices.

  • Document support activities and maintain accurate records of equipment changes.

  • Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve technical problems and complete assigned projects.

Edmonton Area

AEF (Alberta EnviroFuels) Power Engineering Summer Student – Edmonton 

  • Learn to provide engineering troubleshooting and optimization support to Operations and Maintenance Teams.

  • Learn how to use the Management of Change (MOC) process and understand its importance.

  • Become familiar with governing codes, learn best practices of application, and perform design calculations.

  • Assemble Issue-for-Construction (IFC) packages as part of assigned projects. Review construction of those projects in the field.

  • Assist process engineering with hydraulic models, simulations, etc. or mechanical engineering with the creation of piping isometrics, vessel calculations, or bolting/torquing analysis.

  • Prepare and maintain technical drawings and documentation.

  • Clearly communicate and collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders across diverse backgrounds.

  • Participate in parts of our hands-on EIT training program and rotations between sites to grow your skill set and knowledge.

AEF (Alberta EnviroFuels) Maintenance Summer Student – Edmonton

  • Physical labour responsibilities may include:

  • Lifting up to 25 kgs and working at heights

  • Painting on site

  • Lawn mowing and ground maintenance

  • Assisting in minor repairs on site

  • Completing routine forms, records, etc. pertaining to occurrences

  • May be required to assist on specialized projects on site.

  • Other duties as determined by their supervisor.

    • Turnaround prework activities

    • Warehouse work

    • Administration duties

General Labour Summer Student– Fort Saskatchewan 

  • Duties range from general labor, including tasks like maintenance, administrative support, and project assistance.

  • May also include litter control, painting, and using equipment like mowers. 

  • Help with ongoing projects, conducting research, administrative tasks like filing and data entry, and participating in team meetings. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Plant Admin Support – Fort Saskatchewan           

Security:

  • Making sure that validated certificates are completed to ensure that the KFS site stays safe for all.

  • Making security cards and maintaining card lists and that profiles are up to date.

  • Office Security Maintenance – maintain the door keys for the facility.

Site Administration:

  • Stationary management for site

  • Taking employees requests and verifying with supervisor as needed.

  • Front door awareness, ensuring guests/vendors are signed in appropriately and guiding them to the area they need to be.

  • Fleet vehicle mileage input into Element System.

  • FHLA collection and filing

  • HSE Meeting – note taking and distribution

  • Social Committee Representative

  • Take care of incoming/outgoing mail (local mailbox, Purolator, and Mel Martin’s)

  • Assist IT/employees in troubleshooting tech issues that may occur (example, Video Conferencing)

  • Other duties as determined by their supervisor.

Central Alberta Area

Pipeline Operations Technician – Summer Student – Strachan

Based in Rocky Mountain House, this position will work with the Gathering Teams in the Strachan and Drayton Valley areas as a Pipeline Operator. Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily pipeline monitoring and maintenance.

  • Daily field facility monitoring and maintenance.

  • Regular interaction with and support of the Pipeline Integrity Group.

  • Summer project to be presented at the end of the term.

  • Mechanical Engineering Technologist or Petroleum Engineering Technologist from SAIT or NAIT is considered an asset.

Pathways Program Summer Student (General Labour) – Strachan 

Perform physical labour tasks to support plant operations and maintenance activities.

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Painting on site.

  • Lawn mowing and ground maintenance.

  • Assisting in minor repairs on site.

  • Conduct daily boiler water testing and record results accurately.

  • Learn and assist in operating plant process and steam systems.

  • May be required to assist on specialized projects on site.

  • Acquire boiler firing and steam time in accordance with ABSA requirements.

  • Other duties as determined by their supervisor.

General Labour/Administration Assistant Summer Student – Rimbey

  • Support and maintain daily administrative activities, such as filing, distribute incoming and outgoing deliveries.

  • Vacation coverage for Plant Administrator

  • Organize, store, and print company documents as needed.

  • Maintain internal databases and records.

  • Assist in all other administrative projects as requested.

  • General maintenance activities including lawncare, painting and other general labor duties.

  • Assist with Warehouse Inventory tasks.

  • Assist with Laboratory general labour tasks.

Rail Car Loader Summer Student – Rimbey

  • Railcar inspection and loading 

  • Process lab sampling, inventory monitoring & management. 

  • Basic, fundamental onsite operations (ex: Checking water wells) 

  • Vacation coverage for operators. 

  • Assisting shift ops as needed 

  • 12-hour shifts, rotating days, and nights 

General Labour Summer Student – Gilby

Physical labour responsibilities may include:​

  • Lifting and moving up to 25 kgs.​

  • Painting on site​

  • Lawn mowing and ground maintenance​

  • Assisting in minor repairs on site​

  • Completing routine forms, records, etc. pertaining to occurrences​

  • May be required to assist on specialized projects on site.​

  • Other duties as determined by their supervisor.​

  • Experience in general labour is considered an asset.​

Summer Student – Brazeau River

Physical labour responsibilities may include:​

  • Lifting up to 25 kgs

  • Painting on site

  • Lawn mowing and ground maintenance

  • Assist in minor repairs on site.

  • Complete routine forms, records, etc.

  • May be required to assist on specialized projects on site.

  • Other duties as determined by their supervisor.

  • Leadership will work with candidate on shift schedule to balance facility and personal needs. Onsite dorm is available as needed.
