About the Role

The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S., Inc. (GACC South) is a private, non-profit organization and the official representative of German industry and trade in the Southern United States. Our mission is to promote and support bilateral trade between Germany and the United States by assisting companies, institutions, and public stakeholders in cross-border business activities.

We are seeking a highly motivated, full-time Intern – Delegations & Trade Missions to gain hands-on experience in international business development, stakeholder coordination, and project execution. The intern will work closely with the Consulting and Project teams and be directly involved in the planning and execution of inbound and outbound delegation trips.

Role Description

As an Intern – Delegations & Trade Missions, your primary focus will be supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of German business delegation trips to the United States as well as outbound missions. These delegations are often part of federally funded programs and industry-focused initiatives aimed at supporting German small and mid-sized companies in entering or expanding in the U.S. market.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the planning and execution of inbound and outbound delegation trips and trade missions
  • Screening, researching, and qualifying potential U.S. meeting and cooperation partners
  • Organizing and coordinating individual B2B meetings between German and U.S. companies
  • Assisting with the organization of roundtables, site visits, company visits, and conferences
  • Supporting agenda development, scheduling, and logistical coordination for delegation programs
  • Conducting outreach and cold calling to U.S. companies, institutions, and experts to introduce delegation programs and assess interest in participation
  • Conducting industry- and market-specific research to support delegation content
  • Assisting with participant acquisition and stakeholder communication
  • Providing onsite and virtual support during delegation trips and events
  • Supporting pre- and post-delegation follow-up, documentation, and reporting
  • Assisting with project management and administrative tasks related to delegation and event execution

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, economics, international relations, or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of comfort interacting with clients and external stakeholders, including phone-based outreach
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based and international (including virtual) environment
  • Strong attention to detail and structured working style
  • Ability to quickly understand new industries and business models
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of the German language

Preferred Qualifications

  • International experience (e.g., studies abroad, internships, or extended travel)
  • Strong interest in international trade, export promotion, or economic development
  • Experience or interest in event management, delegation programs, or B2B matchmaking
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and proactive working style
  • Familiarity with one or more key industries such as Aerospace, Automotive, Logistics, Medical, Technical Textiles, or Renewable Energy
