You’ll gain experience applying theory and empirical methods to high-profile cases.</p><p></p><p><b>Environment & Natural Resources</b><br />Contribute to market design and pricing for renewable and network infrastructure, regulatory economics and infrastructure financing analysis, and prepare or review expert reports for disputes and arbitration. Projects combine technical economics with real-world policy and investment questions.</p><p></p><p><b>Transfer Pricing & Tax</b><br />Support valuation of intellectual property and business entities, arm’s‑length pricing of cross-border transactions, and tax planning or controversy work for multinational clients. This team blends finance, economics and legal considerations in client engagements.</p><p><br /><b>Responsibilities</b></p><p></p><p>As an intern at NERA you will contribute to real client work from day one. Typical responsibilities include:</p><ul><li>Collaborating closely with consulting teams on projects spanning competition economics, energy markets or transfer‑pricing.</li><li>Support the design and delivery of studies, expert reports and client presentations, from problem definition to analysis and documentation</li><li>Conduct company, industry and market research and synthesise findings into clear written reports and presentations</li><li>Build and apply quantitative models and evidence-based argumentation using economic theory and empirical methods</li><li>Clean, analyse and visualise data using statistical software</li><li>Present results to colleagues, and contribute to client-facing materials under senior guidance.</li></ul><p><br /><b>Your Profile</b></p><p></p><p>You are inquisitive, analytically rigorous and keen to apply your academic training to impactful, real-world problems. Key qualifications include:</p><ul><li>Studying towards your university degree or postgraduate qualification in Economics and/or Finance</li><li>Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills; you should be comfortable with microeconomics and industrial organisation concepts</li><li>A strong interest in economic research or data analysis</li><li>Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in German or Italian (for Berlin) and French (for Paris)</li><li>Intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, accuracy, reliability and a solution-oriented mindset</li><li>Proficiency in MS Office and experience with statistical tools (Stata, R, Python, etc.) would be a plus</li><li>A collaborative mindset, motivated and able to manage responsibilities in small, fast-moving project teams.</li></ul><p><br /><b>We offer</b></p><ul><li>Hands‑on exposure to high‑profile cases and cross‑border collaboration</li><li>A supportive, dynamic working environment with flat hierarchies and strong mentoring</li><li>You’ll work in small project teams and be involved in all project stages.</li><li>Flexibility in terms of Internship duration, from 10 weeks to 12 months</li><li>Competitive remuneration</li><li>A personal buddy and manager will guide your onboarding and development</li><li>The opportunity to put your economics and finance knowledge into practice</li></ul><p><br /><b>How to apply</b></p><p></p><p>Please submit your CV, university transcripts and a cover letter.
