Intern Software Engineering (d/f/m)
6 months minimum, 40 hours a week, hybrid work model, student status required
About the team and the role:
We are in the process of expanding the engineering hub in our Dreilinden office located in the greater Berlin area. We are looking for a passionate student of Computer Science or a related university degree to join our team who can help us build exciting products at eBay. You will be contributing to the development of modern web applications and services using Java/Kotlin/SpringBoot and/or JavaScript, focusing on creating new experiences for millions of users. During your six months internship, you will be mentored by experienced software engineers and learn how to work in a team of Software Engineers at one of the largest e-commerce companies in the world. It’s an opportunity to be part of a growing team based on a collaborative, transparent and highly technical team culture.
What you will accomplish:
- Learn how to work in a team of Software Engineers, including Sprint planning, coding, code reviews, and writing unit tests.
- Contribute to the development of server-side applications and services using Java, Kotlin and SpringBoot.
- Build responsive and dynamic front-end experiences with JavaScript / React.js and similar frameworks.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, following coding standards and guidelines.
- Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
What you will bring:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master degree in computer science or similar technical degree
- Passion for software engineering and willingness to learn from experienced engineers
- Strong foundation in Data Structures and Fundamental Algorithms
- First experience building backend systems with Java / Kotlin / Spring Boot and/or experience in front-end technologies, particularly JavaScript, Node.js, and React.js.
- Good written and oral communication skills in English
- eBay requires employees to be present in the Dreilinden office three days per week on average
