Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Cyber Security Intern or Co-op to join its collaborative Information Technology discipline in Parsippany, NJ. This individual will serve a key function in researching and documenting cyber security best practices and tools. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience working on Information Technology cyber security projects for an engineering consulting firm.

Job Responsibilities

  • Research emerging trends and new security technologies;
  • Evaluate current security measures in place;
  • Collaborate with network team on recommended improvements;
  • Implement enterprise wide security standards, procedures and guidelines;
  • Assist in end user security awareness and training;
  • Monitor security events and assist in mitigation of active threats;
  • Assist in identifying compliance gaps and implement appropriate controls;
  • Review policies and procedures; and
  • Conduct security training and testing.

Qualifications

  • Student actively pursuing a four year or advanced degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field;
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater preferred;
  • Certifications preferred but not required: Blue Team Level 1 Certification, eJPT, eCPPT, AZ-900, AZ-500;
  • Active participation on cybersecurity learning platforms such as Tryhackme, Hackthebox;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
  • Ability to provide an outstanding work product with strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to proactively organize, prioritize, and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent communication skills; and
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and dependable.

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. The estimated range for this role is: $25 - $30 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
