About The Company
MaRS is the world's largest urban innovation hub in Toronto that supports startups in the health, cleantech, fintech, and enterprise sectors. When MaRS opened in 2005 this concept of urban innovation was an untested theory. Today, it’s reshaping cities around the world. MaRS has been at the forefront of a wave of change that extends from Melbourne to Amsterdam and runs through San Francisco, London, Medellín, Los Angeles, Paris and New York. These global cities are now striving to create what we have in Toronto: a dense innovation district that co-locates universities, startups, corporates and investors. In this increasingly competitive landscape, scale matters more than ever – the best talent is attracted to the brightest innovation hotspots.

About the Internship Opportunity with the Capital Program

The MaRS Capital Program works with the most innovative high-growth startups across Canada, supporting them in raising the capital required to scale their businesses. While our intensive support focuses on founders actively sprinting to raise funds, we are looking to expand our impact by building lasting resources that serve the broader ecosystem.

We are seeking an intern to lead the production of critical resource guides designed to support founders at different stages of their journey. This is a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of venture capital, content strategy, and project management. You will be responsible for transforming expert knowledge into actionable, polished playbooks that will be used by hundreds of Canadian founders.

You will coordinate the end-to-end development of two flagship guides:

  1. The "Post-Raise" Operational Guide: A resource for program graduates teaching them how to effectively run a venture-backed business. Topics will include best practices for writing investor updates, managing board meetings, and leveraging press coverage.
  2. The Fundraising Acceleration Toolkit: An actionable guide for applicants who do not yet qualify for the intensive program, providing them with the tools and frameworks needed to accelerate their own fundraising efforts.

Major tasks the Intern will undertake:

Your primary focus will be the end-to-end production of these two guides. For each project, you will:

  • Create the Project Roadmap: Develop and execute a detailed work-back plan to manage timelines, ensuring all milestones are hit from kickoff to launch.
  • Coordinate Content Collection: Act as the central liaison between the Capital Program lead and external authors/experts to ensure content is gathered and submitted on schedule.
  • Edit & Refine: Perform deep proofreading and copyediting of all submissions to ensure clarity, flow, and a professional tone consistent with the MaRS brand.
  • Lead Graphic Design & Production: Own the visual layout and design process, transforming raw text documents into polished, highly visual PDF assets (using tools like Canva or InDesign).
  • Manage Final Approvals: Coordinate final review cycles and quality checks with the program lead and contributing authors to prepare the assets for distribution.

  • Currently enrolled in post secondary studies going into your 3rd/4th year in September 2026
