Description

Group O is seeking an Intern to grow within our developing Information Technology group.

As the Desktop Support Intern, you will be a vital part of our IT support team, providing essential technical assistance to end-users within the organization. Your role involves learning to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, ensuring optimal workstation performance, and maintaining an elevated level of customer satisfaction. This internship offers a firsthand learning experience in a dynamic and challenging environment, providing opportunities to develop technical skills and gain practical experience in IT operations.


Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Desktop Support:
  • Provide first-line technical support to end-users, responding to inquiries and troubleshooting issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
  • Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Document and track support tickets using the IT ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and excellent customer service.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with company policy.
  • Assist with the deployment and maintenance of IT equipment and infrastructure.
  • Perform routine system maintenance and updates to ensure security and efficiency.
  • Other desktop support duties as assigned.
Secondary Functions: 
  • Collaborate with IT team members on various projects and initiatives, contributing to the successful delivery of IT services and solutions.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to IT policies, procedures, and standards, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the IT Service Manager.


Job Qualifications

Education/Certifications: 
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Skills and Qualifications: 
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Strong interest in information security principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with end-users and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Eagerness to learn, adaptability, and an initiative-taking attitude towards problem-solving.
  • This internship position is part-time and is expected to last three months. The schedule can be flexible based on the intern's availability and academic requirements.
