College Intern - Mechanical Design Engineering

Description -

What a College Intern - Mechanical Design Engineering does at HP:

  • Design mechanical components and systems using CAD tools, including case parts, and mechanisms.
  • Perform critical design analyses such as Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and tolerance stack-up studies.
  • Utilize simulation software to conduct dynamic analyses and explore various configurations to optimize mechanical performance and efficiency.
  • Develop and refine prototypes based on simulation results and conceptual designs, applying creative and innovative approaches.
  • Collaborate with engineers to understand detailed project requirements, mechanical specifications, and performance objectives.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of prototypes to ensure stability, reliability, and compliance with design standards.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

  • Currently pursuing a Degree in Mechatronics/Mechanical.
  • Able to commit to 5-6 months full-time internship, starting in May 2026.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical design and basic understanding of electrical, sensors and programming.
  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for self-directed learning, proactively seeking out new knowledge and skills to enhance project outcomes.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CREO Elements/Direct) for creating and modifying mechanical designs.
  • Good analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
