About the Role

Job Summary

This Accounting/Finance Intern position works with the corporate accounting group. The role includes support for a variety of mid-level accounting and finance duties, which include both day-to-day activities and projects. This position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer. 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end general ledger, close journal entries, and supporting reconciliations
  • Research and correct account discrepancies
  • Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals
  • Provide assistance and support for others on the corporate accounting team upon request
  • Prepare reports for management and operations upon request
  • Properly execute stipulated controls to ensure compliance with JSOX

Education

Must either be a recent graduate or in the process of completing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. 

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office software programs
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Have strong organization and time management skills
  • Must have completed introductory accounting courses and have a basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Must be a team player and motivated to learn with a strong desire to take on a new challenge

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
