<p><span style="color:#000000"><b><span style="font-size:14px">Job Title:</span></b><span style="font-size:14px"> 2026 Natera Clinical Genomics Engineering Summer Intern</span></span></p><p><br></p><p><span style="color:#000000"><b><span style="font-size:14px">Overview:</span></b></span></p><p><span style="color:#000000"><span style="font-size:14px">The Clinical Genomics Engineering Team at Natera builds and maintains platforms for technical quality control, variant interpretation, variant classification, and clinical reporting of Natera’s molecular diagnostic tests. We optimize development velocity across R&D and Engineering. We deliver high quality, reliable, compliant production clinical genomics applications and associated infrastructure with global reach and scale. We ensure clinical experts are in the loop for all of Natera’s patients. </span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="color:#000000"><span style="font-size:14px">The Clinical Genomics Engineering team seeks an enthusiastic and driven undergraduate or graduate </span></span></p><p><span style="color:#000000"><span style="font-size:14px">student to join our team as an intern. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, software engineering, and data analysis techniques. The successful candidate will work closely with our team of software engineers, scientists, and researchers on various projects aimed at building production-grade bioinformatics pipelines and infrastructure. </span></span></p><p></p><p><span style="color:#000000"><span style="font-size:14px">Previous intern projects have included: </span></span></p><ul><li><p><span style="color:#000000"><span style="font-size:14px">Creating an AI-tool to facilitate the management of complex variant information</span></span></p></li><li><p><span style="color:#000000"><span style="font-size:14px">Researching the current state of the art for AI in variant curation</span></span></p></li><li><p><span style="color:#000000"><span style="font-size:14px">Automating export of data for submission to public clinical variant databases</span></span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><b><span style="font-size:14px">Responsibilities:</span></b></span></span></p><ul><li><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><span style="font-size:14px">Assist in the design and implementation of software components using Python and/or Java for Tertiary Analysis workflows (e.g. variant management systems, SOP automation, technical review systems).</span></span></span></p></li><li><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><span style="font-size:14px">Investigate and support tools for variant classification and case review systems.</span></span></span></p></li><li><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><span style="font-size:14px">Collaborate with engineering teams to analyze and document existing front-end applications built with React or Angular.</span></span></span></p></li><li><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><span style="font-size:14px">Contribute to the documentation of software architecture, development methodologies, and results.</span></span></span></p></li><li><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><span style="font-size:14px">Learn and utilize modern software development practices, including unit testing and version control (Git) in a Unix/Linux environment.</span></span></span></p></li></ul><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><b><span style="font-size:14px">Qualifications:</span></b></span></span></p><ul><li><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><span style="font-size:14px">Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Engineering, Molecular Biology (with demonstrable software development experience), or a related technical field.</span></span></span></p></li><li><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><span style="font-size:14px">Proficiency in programming languages, specifically Python, with basic knowledge of Java as a plus.</span></span></span></p></li><li><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><span style="font-size:14px">Familiarity with foundational concepts in data management (e.g., ability to write and use basic SQL queries).</span></span></span></p></li><li><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><span style="font-size:14px">Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</span></span></span></p></li><li><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><span style="font-size:14px">Effective communication and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.</span></span></span></p></li></ul><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><b><span style="font-size:14px">Nice to Have:</span></b></span></span></p><ul><li><p><span style="color:#1f1f1f"><span><span style="font-size:14px">Exposure to bioinformatics or clinical genomics concepts, especially variant interpretation, clinical sample processing, or diagnostic report
