About the Role

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Intern at our Lynnwood, WA location for the summer of 2026.

Job Summary:

As an intern at Crane Aerospace & Electronics, you will perform engineering duties in researching, planning, designing, and developing the mechanical aspects of products for use in aerospace or electronics marketplace. Work on new product designs, modernization, and upgrades, as well as perform extensive analyses to ensure cost, quality, and customer requirements. Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform daily assignments. Apply principles of science and mathematics to develop economical solutions to technical problems.

Essential Functions:

  • Work effectively with other functional groups to achieve product performance
  • Generate models and conduct analyses that are in compliance with requirements
  • Perform design experiments and evaluate test results to validate analysis
  • Build quality and manufacturability into the design
  • Generate and review engineering documentation related to product development: technical drawings, procedures, reports, correspondence, etc.
  • Design, analyze, and test 3D printed power supply cases using high-performance plastics
  • Update structural analysis models using ANSYS to compare mechanical connection types
  • Design and test tooling/fixturing for manufacturing proximity sensors & switches

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in engineering
  • Must provide GPA, minimum accepted 3.1 on a 4.0 scale
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills in a team environment
  • Must be project-oriented and be able to multi-task
  • Knowledge/proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to fulfill a one quarter or semester internship commitment, 40 hours per week
  • Available to work full-time during summer months
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
