Our internship program is designed for full-time students currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university and recent graduates in North America. These are temporary full-time paid positions that usually run from May through August. Apply Today! 

This position may be eligible for Freeport-McMoRan immigration work visa sponsorship:

  • A foreign national working in a full-time status on an F-1 visa may be considered for H-1B visa sponsorship based on business needs, meeting company performance and safety expectations and with site approval. 
  • A foreign national working in a full-time status may be considered for employment-based permanent residency sponsorship, based on business needs, completion of six (6) months of employment, meeting company performance and safety expectations and with site approval.  

 

Where You Will Work    

 

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in accounting and finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. Interns will work at our Collaboration Hub at the Cotton Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration.  
 
Phoenix is the capital of the Grand Canyon State and enjoys mostly bright skies throughout the year. It is the perfect place if you enjoy the outdoors, love sports, concerts and other big city amenities or technology. There are great neighborhoods around Phoenix, with easy access to a major city, nature, the arts and many more amenities.  

What You Will Do

Under general supervision, performs project work that will consist of field work, data collection and analysis.

  • Assembles data and assists with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals . 
  • Utilizes computer programs to solve equipment reliability problems. 
  • Assists with technical evaluation of equipment and material. 
  • Assists with maintaining accurate and current project documentation, may perform as a member of an equipment maintenance crew. 
  • Assists in coordinating mechanical, electrical, and other departments to include developing a scope of work for minor and major preventive maintenance activities. 
  • Assists in evaluating current systems and processes and implement optimizations to improve efficiencies Assists in the development of detailed information packets. 
  • Promotes and initiates positive employee relations designed to facilitate teamwork and job satisfaction through participation. 
  • Performs other duties as required. 

What You Bring To Freeport

  • Currently enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year university pursuing a degree, bachelor’s or higher, in an appropriate Engineering discipline, OR 
  • Recent graduate (within 12 months prior to internship start date) with a degree, bachelor’s or higher, in an appropriate Engineering degree. 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Possesses strong data analysis and problem-solving skills. 
  • Highly accurate and detail oriented. 
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure.  
  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.

  • The estimated pay range for this role is currently $28.25 - $35.25/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.

  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the workday.
