About the Role

POSITION TITLE: Summer Intern

DEPARTMENT: Post-Secondary

CLASSIFICATION: MGO-01

SALARY RANGE: Starting at $20.00/hour

POSITION TYPE: Full Time, Temporary

LOCATION: Saskatoon and Prince Albert (pending department)

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Post-Secondary Program Manager

Brief Overview: 

Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) is seeking motivated Summer Interns for the period of May 4, 2026, to August 31, 2026. The MN–S Summer Internship Program provides Métis post-secondary students with meaningful opportunities to develop technical and interpersonal skills that complement their academic studies.


Along with professional experience, the program offers cultural learning designed to deepen students’ connection to their Métis heritage and strengthen cultural knowledge, identity, and pride. Interns will work within various MN–S departments, contributing to daily operations, supporting project development, and assisting in policy discussions. This hands-on experience helps students apply their education in a real-world environment while building valuable skills for future career success.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Successful applicants will work within assigned departments assisting with projects, policy development, data management, operational processes, community events and engagement other duties as required or assigned.   • Will assist with Back to Batoche festival 2026. 
  • Will attend and participate in several training opportunities throughout the summer – both cultural and skills based. 
  • Travel to some events will be required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess interpersonal skills and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Able to work independently and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint), and Adobe.


Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be entering, currently enrolled or graduated from their studies in post-secondary education by April 2026.
  • As a skills and training program within the government funding mandates, only Métis candidates will be considered.
  • Must have the ability to establish a home office with stable internet connection, and a private and secure workspace, if required.


Additional requirements:

  • Valid MN–S citizenship card or in progress application.
  • Proof of enrollment/acceptance in an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Must undergo a Criminal Record Check if you are a successful application.
  • Cover letter indicating Top 3 departments of interest.
  • The Travel requirement for this position is varied by department.
