POSITION GOAL:

The Engineer Intern will perform basic engineering duties associated with the construction, structural, or civil engineering projects for DB Sterlin. This individual will support all aspects of design projects for roadways, utilities, sewers, and bridges, prepare schematics and models, and perform analysis and engineering calculations. Additionally, this role will support the development of plans, specifications, and estimates, as well as the preparation of technical engineering reports and the performance of construction management for various projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform basic fundamental design and modeling tasks 

  • Participate in data research, collection, and compilation efforts.

  • Analyze and correlate scientific and engineering data and recognize discrepancies in results using a series of related detailed steps or processes.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports, studies, and technical memoranda.

  • Adhere to project deadlines and keep the Supervisor informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments.

  • Responsible for reporting on projects to ensure a quality product is produced in accordance with the schedule.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:  A minimum of 2 years of college, preferably from a school with an accredited engineering program

Licensure: N/A 

Job Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Report to: Project Engineer – Team Lead

Experience: Basic engineering skills

Communication Skills: Basic engineering skills

Technical Skills: Basic experience with Microsoft Office Suite required or related database software preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, climb, or balance, talk or hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or control. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on occasion.

Working Environment: A general office environment that may require periods of sitting at a computer. The environmental conditions generally include ambient inside temperature, lighting, and noise level. Due to the collaborative nature of this position and accessibility for in-house meetings, it is important that the work may need to be performed in the office and during normal business hours.  Occasional outdoor work may also be required throughout the year. 

Continuing Education: Complete state-required competency. Attend job-related seminars and workshops.

Pay Range: $22 - $24 per hour
