POSITION SUMMARY:

The Controls Engineering Intern position is responsible for assisting in the development and delivery of control systems for manufacturing equipment for manual to highly automated assembly and test equipment.  This engineering assignment will involve interaction with the Production and Manufacturing Engineering teams to troubleshoot electrical and controls of manufacturing equipment, and will also involve writing software and PLC code for machines. The engineer should be able to work independently as well as in a team based environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoot and assist with controls issues on production equipment
  • Assist in programming equipment, robotics, inspection cameras, and operator interfaces
  • Verification of all controls requirements on manufacturing equipment
  • Assist with integrating electrical safety requirements into equipment
  • Assist in the delivery of all required electrical systems documentation
  • Help in the development of specifications (include electrical/programming/hardware requirements)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other applicable field of Engineering
  • Interest in controls design and improving assembly / test equipment

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Understanding of PLC controls/Ladder Logic/Visual Basic techniques
  • Hands on technical experience and problem solving capability
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical/electrical concepts
  • Good communication skills / team experience

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some Travel may be required
