About the Role

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated intern to assist with the design and project execution of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices, specifically our Fixed Series Capacitor and Synchronous Condenser offerings, but may include Power Electronics systems. The intern will work closely with our engineering, procurement, sourcing, quality, and management teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design and development of FACTS devices, including conducting research, developing models and simulations, and drafting design documents
  • Work with the engineering team to ensure that designs meet all technical requirements and specifications
  • Collaborate with the procurement and sourcing teams to identify and source materials and components for FACTS devices
  • Assist with the quality control and testing of FACTS devices to ensure that they meet all performance and safety standards
  • Support the management team with project planning and scheduling, including tracking project progress and identifying potential issues

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in electrical engineering or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, especially as they relate to power transmission and distribution
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).  
  • Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process 
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
  • Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships 
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license 
  • Must be willing to work in geographical area specified by the business 
  • Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship

This is a full-time internship position (40 hours/week), located at our headquarters in Saratoga Springs, New York. The internship duration is 3-6 months, with potential for extension based on performance.

The pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hr - $34.00/hr based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed.

This position is also eligible for:

  • Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
  • Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
  • Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services
  • GE Vernova Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day.)
