Position Summary

The Co-op Machinist Trainee will set up and operate manual and CNC milling machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts in a production environment.

What will your day look like? At Aerotech, you will

  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Set-up and operate manual milling machines to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts.
  • Program, set-up and operate NC controlled milling machines.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machine tools.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an approved vocational-technical school in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
  • Must be in good academic standing at the school.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must have a valid work permit if under the age of 18.
  • Must have a reliable means of transportation.

Must be authorized to work in the US currently and in the future without employer sponsorship.
