Memphis receives its water from one of the largest artesian water systems in the world. MLGW is led by a president and a five-member board of commissioners who are appointed by the mayor of Memphis and approved by the Memphis City Council.

Memphis Light, Gas, and Water is currently seeking Intern Students to perform non-technical duties providing the opportunity for training in various departments throughout the Division. Students will alternate between work and school for a minimum one to a maximum of six semesters to gain hands-on experience while working on challenging projects, networking with professionals, and learning from some of the most knowledgeable people in the utility industry. Delegated duties/responsibilities will vary by assignment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Gather and organize data to provide information for departmental projects and reports.
Request/provide information, execute assigned projects by performing tasks such as conferring with supervisors to define project needs, scope and prepare progress reports. Responsible for project assignments, research, and analysis. Observe subject matter experts and train on various tasks. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.



LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Must have a valid driver's license or identification card from state of residence.

EDUCATION

Must be a full-time student enrolled in a college or university. College majors are considered based on specific needs of the department such as Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, Purchasing, Communication, Education, or another relevant field. Must maintain a required academic standard of 2.5 out of 4.0 grade point average.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Possess analytical and mathematical skills. Self-directed and able to work without supervision. Must maintain a professional work ethic and the ability to critically think and solve problems. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. full time and without restriction during internship. Must have skills in teamwork and promoting safety work practices; flexibility to adjust to changing conditions; demonstrate ability to work in a diverse workforce.
