Project Title:

Implant Process Engineering

Project Objective:

To develop robust, high-volume manufacturable protocols for phosphorus-to-arsenic surface cleaning and conversion to mitigate phosphorus cross-contamination in arsenic-doped semiconductor wafers.

Project Outcome:

The intern will gain comprehensive exposure to semiconductor fabrication operations, with a focus on advanced ion implantation process engineering and fundamental equipment handling. Training will include application of PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology for continuous improvement.

Additionally, the intern will be introduced to failure analysis techniques such as Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) and data analytics using JMP software.

The project will require the intern to perform cost-benefit and productivity impact assessments for proposed process solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Acquire foundational knowledge of ion implantation processes and equipment principles.

  • Gain proficiency in implant tool operation and handling.

  • Analyze historical data on phosphorus contamination incidents in arsenic-implanted wafers.

  • Conduct a comprehensive literature review to identify potential mitigation strategies.

  • Apply PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology to design evaluation plans and develop solutions tailored to the current fab operational environment.

  • Formulate a detailed implementation roadmap for proposed solutions.

  • Execute project management activities, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve defined project objectives.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs.

Required Qualifications:

Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Science or any other related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.

*This application is for students undertaking a 20-24 week credit-bearing internship from June 2026 onwards.
