About the Role

Description

 

We are looking for students that have background or are interested in working with hybrid and battery electric vehicle powertrain systems and components. As an electrification engineering assistant, you will support engineers in the benchmarking, development and verification of hybrid and electric powertrains. Work includes testing hybrid and electric powertrain vehicles, supporting test sites, reviewing, and analyzing data, researching the latest EV technology, and preparing supporting documentation for project presentations and reports.

Job Responsibilities:   

  • Support installation and commissioning of instrumentation in electric and/or hybrid vehicle powertrains and test benches
  • Assist and interact with engineering and operations staff to execute vehicle and component testing tasks
  • Data handling, processing, analysis, and report material generation
  • Support project hardware inventory and logistics
  • Ability to support off shift testing and analysis, if required


Requirements

 Required:  

  • Candidates pursuing a master's or bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or automotive engineering
  • Strong engineering fundamentals: fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, electronics
  • Interest and understanding of electric and hybrid powertrain systems
  • Skilled in handling MS-Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Basic understanding in MS Excel macro, MATLAB, or other similar scripting
  • Professional communication skills, both oral and written English
  • Must be a motivated team player to perform in fast paced consulting environment 

Preferred:  

  • Experience with vehicle instrumentation and testing
  • Basic exposure to test equipment installation and/or calibration
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle powertrain systems
  • Knowledge of US legislation (Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and/or California Code of Regulations (CCR) regulating hybrid and electric vehicles
