DIS-TRAN Steel is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Intern to join our team this summer. This internship offers hands-on experience in core accounting functions, with a strong focus on Accounts Payable processing and financial operations. The intern will work closely with the accounting team and gain exposure to how accounting supports daily manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with Accounts Payable processing, including invoice review, general ledger coding, and three-way matching (purchase order, receipt, and invoice).
  • Learn and support the cash flow cycle, including the benefits of early payment discounts.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with month-end close activities.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal departments such as Purchasing, Receiving, HR, Plant Supervisors, and external vendors to resolve discrepancies and meet deadlines.
  • Develop time-management skills by planning daily tasks to support timely and accurate processing.


Tools & Systems:
  • Accounting software: Epicor
  • Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and Outlook

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university, Junior level or above, pursuing Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) preferred
  • Willingness to learn and take ownership of assigned tasks
