About the Role

Overview

The Tool & Die shop works closely with engineering to design and manufacture sheet metal stamping dies as well as specialized equipment and custom machinery. This internship will provide an opportunity to learn about the intricate inner workings of a Tool & Die shop as well as to learn and hone precision machining skills.  

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly communicate and demonstrate skills and abilities to Supervisor at start of internship and throughout internship as new skills are learned and developed. 
  • Depending on qualified skills and abilities intern will be required to utilize shop equipment to complete machining tasks as requested by Supervisor. 
  • Shadow machinists and tool and die makers as directed. 
  • Assist machinists and tool and die makers with any needs associated to their project. 
  • Actively participate in tool room discussions concerning project planning, scheduling and status. 
  • Assist Supervisor, Department Manager and Assistant Manager with shop organization and cleanliness projects and tasks. 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 
  • Must have completed at least one year of a training towards a machining or tool and die making degree or certification program at an accredited trade school.
  • Basic knowledge and use of machining equipment, such as drill presses, grinders, lathes, band saws as well a high level of capability with the use of basic hand tools is preferred.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, multi-tasking, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Positive, collaborative, and open-minded attitude.
  • Self-motivated, responsible and ambitious.
  • Ability to apply good judgment and make decisions independently.
  • Effective professional communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Can represent themselves, the department and the company in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to work well and effectively communicate with team members.
  • Computer skills: General computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software preferred, but not required.

The hours for this position are 5:40am - 4:10pm, Monday through Thursday.
