About the Role

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Viant is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to join our Engineering organization for Summer 2026. This internship provides hands-on experience working on real systems that power Viant’s AI-driven, CTV-focused programmatic advertising platform.

As an Engineering Intern, you will collaborate with experienced software engineers to design, build, test, and improve scalable systems across our DSP, data pipelines, and internal platforms. This role is ideal for students who are eager to learn, curious about large-scale systems, and excited to apply classroom knowledge to real-world problems.

THE DAY-TO-DAY

  • Contribute to the development of software features and services used at Viant

  • Assist with designing, implementing, testing, and documenting code under the guidance of senior engineers

  • Participate in code reviews, team standups, sprint planning, and technical discussions

  • Debug and troubleshoot issues across applications, services, or data workflows

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data, and Platform teams to support business initiatives

  • Learn and apply industry best practices related to software development, scalability, performance, and reliability

GREAT TO HAVE

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Strong understanding of core programming concepts and data structures

  • Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, Go, C++, or JavaScript

  • Familiarity with basic software development tools such as Git, IDEs, and debugging tools

  • Exposure to backend systems, distributed systems, or data engineering concepts

  • Experience with SQL, APIs, cloud platforms (GCP or AWS), or containerization tools

  • Interest in ad tech, data platforms, machine learning, or large-scale systems

  • Ability to learn quickly, take feedback, and work effectively in a collaborative team environment

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

In accordance with California law, the range provided is Viant’s reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role.  Final title and compensation for the position will be based on several factors including work experience and education.
