Department Summary

The Summer at Roche Intern Program has been developed to provide students with a fun yet rewarding summer through hands-on experience and numerous opportunities to network with other interns as well as employees in the organization. Additionally, we help our students meet their career development and educational goals while potentially building a future with the Roche organization. Leveraging the education you received already, we hope to give you an opportunity to grow and develop with us!

This internship position is located in Tucson, on-site. 

The Opportunity

  • Learn and apply company concepts, policies, and procedures.

  • Hands-on hardware development experience with on-market instruments.

  • Concept generation, testing, and analysis of design solutions to address real problems while satisfying the needs of the business.

  • Follows standard engineering practices under the guidance and supervision of experienced engineers.

  • Participate in technical assessment reviews and collaborate with team members on various engineering projects.

  • Present and discuss data within the group, contributing to team knowledge sharing.

  • Makes suggestions to improve work processes and overall efficiency.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

What you will learn:

  • Data driven decision making.

  • Engineering design methodologies and best practices.

  • Advanced analytical techniques and best practices.

  • Multiple aspects of Design Control relating to Engineering, Requirements, Risk Management, Detailed Design, Simulations, Prototyping, Integration, Testing and Release.

  • This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in engineering projects, applying classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios.

Who You Are

Required Education

You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree (enrolled student).

  • Must be pursuing a Master's degree (enrolled student).

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors: Mechanical or Biomedical engineering.

Required skills:

  • Familiarity with searching technical literature.

  • Basic knowledge of and ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, graphical and presentation software applications.

  • Understanding of basic engineering techniques and principles.

  • Ability to follow detailed directions and learn from supervision.

  • An interest in increasing quality and promoting a "Quality First Time" mindset.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Entry level; prior internship or coursework in engineering preferred.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. 
 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Arizona is $23.00 - $44.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
