Maryland Auto Insurance seeks candidates to fill a part-time, contractual role in our Internship Program within the House Counsel/Legal Department. This is a part time position with a maximum of 29 hours per week for 8 weeks this summer starting June 8, 2026. This position is hybrid with both virtual and in office work.  The candidate will be required to come into the office a minimum of twice per week. Wednesdays will be a required in office day for educational lunch and learn sessions.

The firm is the House Counsel Unit of Maryland Auto. We provide legal defense of civil lawsuits arising out of car accidents, insurance defense litigation. The Intern provides support to the attorneys handling litigation.  

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conduct client interviews and maintain contact with the client
  • Investigate facts of case
  • Interact with insurance adjusters, court personnel, adverse attorney's office
  • Interact with legal secretarial staff
  • Conduct legal research
  • Draft legal pleadings and correspondence
  • Attend and summarize depositions
  • Assist in preparations and attendance at court proceedings
  • Perform other duties as required

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Student in law school

This position does not supervise other employees. This is a part‑time, non‑benefited position with core hours scheduled during regular business hours. Specific hours will be finalized at the time of hire.
