What is the Opportunity? 

Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools and other key destinations throughout the city.

As part of the Scarborough Transit Connect project based in Scarborough, Aecon is looking for a qualified Systems Integration Co-op to join our team. 

Co-op Duration: 8-months

Co-op Start: May 2026

Location: 100 Consilium Pl, Scarborough ON

What You Will Do Here:

• Assist the Systems Integration & Interface team in coordinating design, procurement, installation, and testing activities for rail systems.
• Support interface management between systems and civil works.
• Participate in requirements tracking, configuration management, and progressive assurance processes.
• Collaborate with Testing & Commissioning teams during key project phases.
• Help maintain documentation for integration activities, including drawings, reports, and compliance records.
• Engage with stakeholders across engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of signaling, communications, and power systems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving during project execution.
• Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.

What You Bring to The Team:

• Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Technical program (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or related discipline).
• Strong interest in rail transit systems and infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 is an asset).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; exposure to AutoCAD, BIM tools, or similar platforms is an asset.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
• Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
