About The Company
Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is a retail franchisor and manufacturer of premium confections. The Company is based in the charming old-west town of Durango located on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains, in southwestern Colorado. From its 53,000 square foot plant, the Company offers a franchise business opportunity in premium retail selling handcrafted caramel apples and classic confections and chocolates. It manufactures an extensive line of premium chocolate candies and other confectionery products to supply its many franchise locations, delivered fresh by its fleet of refrigerated trucks. The chocolate factory produces approximately 300 chocolate candies and other confectionery products, using proprietary recipes developed primarily by its master candy maker. These products include many varieties of clusters, caramels, creams, meltaways, truffles and molded chocolates. Individual stores prepare a variety of caramel and candy apples, fudge, chocolate items and confections in full view of the customer using traditional cooking utensils such as copper kettles on gas-fired stoves and marble slab cooling tables.

SUMMARY: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to join our team part-time. This position is ideal for students or early-career professionals eager to gain hands-on experience in a variety of HR-related operations and administrative tasks and support the HR team in daily operations and projects.  As an HR Intern, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of our HR policies and procedures, while gaining insight to our company’s approach to payroll, recruiting, and employee development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Update internal databases with new employee information.
  • Screen resumes and application forms.
  • Post, update and remove job ads from job boards, career pages and social networks.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation processes.
  • Prepare HR-related reports as needed.
  • Address employee queries regarding policies and benefits.
  • Review and distribute company policies in digital formats or hard copies.
  • Participate in organizing company events and career days.
  • Conduct research on HR best practices and assist in policy development.
  • Assist in paper to electronic file conversion of employee files.
  • Update company SharePoint with HR related forms and benefit information.
  • Assist with newsletter.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a degree in human resources, business, psychology or a related field.
  • Relevant coursework in HR management, organizational behavior, and labor relations.
  • Familiarity with HRIS (human resources information system), ATS (applicant tracking system) and resume databases.
  • Experience as a staff assistant or similar junior HR role.
  • Familiarity with full-cycle recruiting.
  • Basic knowledge of labor legislation.
