The goal of the Neurodiversity Hiring Program is to build a hiring approach that recognizes and embraces the strengths of Neurodiverse candidates. Neurodiversity encompasses a wide range of cognitive differences, such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia & dyscalculia.

As one of the core forces driving Microsoft’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region, the Microsoft AI Asia (MAIA) team spans across Beijing, Suzhou, Taipei, and Tokyo, focusing on exploration in technology research and product innovation. Our team is dedicated to creating world-class internet products, experiences, and services. We are responsible for the technological development and operational management of an array of products, including Edge browser, Bing search, Microsoft Ads, Microsoft Maps, Microsoft Weather, and Content. We are committed to continuously investing in the development of a new portfolio of artificial intelligence products. 

Microsoft Software Technology Center Asia (STCA), founded in 2005, has teams in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Taipei, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Vancouver, with world-class regional R&D centers in Beijing and Suzhou. As an indispensable core force in Microsoft’s global product development and operations, STCA contributes to core products and innovations such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Windows, Forms, Outlook. Its work spans AI, big data, cloud computing, platforms and systems, security, user interaction design, mobile technologies, AI development tools, and AI Ops, making a significant impact on Microsoft’s global innovation efforts.

Internship Period: 12 weeks in summer of 2026 (May.~Sep.)

Target candidates: University students from related major who will graduate between Sep 2026 and Aug 2027

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will work with teammates to solve problems and build innovative software solutions. You will apply your passion for customers and product quality as you provide technical guidance to Technical Program Managers and Product Managers. You will learn and adopt relevant new technologies, tools, methods, and processes to leverage in your solutions. This opportunity will enable you to advance your career by designing, developing, and testing next-generation software that will empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more.

Responsibilities
  • Apply engineering principles to solve complex problems through sound and creative engineering. 
  • Work with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.
  • Quickly learns new engineering methods and incorporates them into work processes. 
  • Seek feedback and apply internal or industry best practices to improve technical solutions. 
  • Demonstrate skill in time management and completing software projects in a cooperative team environment.
  • Review current developments and proactively seek new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Eligible for the Neurodiversity Hiring Program.
  • Currently pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Must have at least 1 semester/term remaining following the completion of the internship.
  • One year of programming experience in an object-oriented language.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
